Summary: Add UNIX domain socket support to spamc/spamd
Product: Spamassassin
Version: current-CVS
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P5
Component: spamc/spamd
AssignedTo: spamassassin-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
ReportedBy: steve@unixwiz.net
Using TCP for IPC is not the most efficient way for spamc and spamd to talk when
they're both on the same machine, so supporting UNIX domain sockets for this
would make it a bit more efficient.
The patch here:
http://www.unixwiz.net/patches/SpamAssassin-2.60-unixsockets.txt
adds this functionality, as well as adding randomization of hostnames when TCP
sockets are used. The changes for UNIX domain sockets are so tightly tied to the
code changes for randomization that it doesn't seem like there is an easy way to
split the patch in two.
Hope I'm doing this right...
