Subject: JDBC Connection problem

I mailed this to techsupp@solidtech.com 2 weeks ago, but got no response
So I'm trying it at the Solid-users

Hello,

We are connecting a solid 2.3 database through the solid JDBC driver on a Intel NT \
environment. When we connect the solid database via \
DriverManager.getConnection(url, usr, passwd) with a wrong password twice, the \
connection hangs for about 10, 20 seconds and then we can do a third try.
The user thinks something went wrong and starts a new java-session, so in a few hours \
they can have 3 or more java-sessions hanging. We also tried with the \
DriverManager.setLoginTimeout(...) with some values, but obtained no \
                other results.
Question: What happens during these 10 or more seconds of 'hanging' ?
(It seems that the port or network-socket stays occupied, even a new \
java-session has to wait 10 or more seconds) Is there any setting possible?
Is it an OS problem?
Are we doing something wrong?

Greetings,

Peter Schachtschabel,
