I found this in my mailbox at the university where I do some
consulting work this morning. I haven't had a look at the program
that is being described in the mail, but I thought that you were
perhaps interested.

Hi again.

We have now made the first results from crash-me available! crash-me
is a perl program that using DBI/DBI finds which functions a database
supports and will also find the most useful database limits (number of
columns, max number of indexes..)

To your supprise :) we noticed that crash-me also was a good tool to test
how good a database server really is in handling somewhat 'unexpected
queries and the results where horrifying!!!!!

You should definitely not run crash-me at home on anything else than
MySQL 3.21! You should instead run it at work on your standard database
server and call your support personal each time it goes down.
You have a lot of calls to make before you database is secure.....

You can take a look at a comparison table generated from crash-me runs
at:

http://www.tcx.se/crash-me.htlm

You can get a copy of crash-me and the MySQL benchmarks from the new
MySQL distribution at

http://www.tcx.se/mysql-3.21.15c-alpha.tar.gz

We will shortly make a page for the benchmark results!

If you are planing to run crash-me to another database than the
currently supported ones: mSQL, MySQL, postgreSQL and Solid, mail me
for the newest version!

Now hurry to run crash-me on your server before anyone else has the
time to do it. Is you server crash-me safe? Spread the word....

Yours,
Monty

PS: We know that there is still so much to test and report with
crash-me; Transactions, backup, large data sets, if the reported
    numbers really work....
This we leave for the next version of crash-me..
