Hi, I think you'll need a FreeBSD list (or maybe a general wirelist
list) for better answers to your OS-specific questions; soekris-tech
is more for the hardware.

I would guess you have tried to place ath0 in the same subnet as an
existing nic.

If this is the case, think about how machines on the wireless side
will try and route packets to machines on the wired side (bearing in
mind that network broadcasts, e.g. ARP traffic, don't pass a router),
and consider whether you actually wanted a bridge instead.

If this isn't the case and doesn't point you in the right direction,
try posting to a FreeBSD list including output of 'ifconfig -a'
before you start, the ifconfig line you're trying, and the exact
message you see. Quoting rather than paraphrasing will help those
trying to assist and increase your chances of a useful response.

An infrastructure network is one where nodes connect to an
access-point. hostap sets up a node to run as a software access-point.

Not seen in FreeBSD 5.2.1 man pages, but this is in David Young's
posting to tech-net@netbsd.org:

Try these: ath(4), wlan(4), ifconfig(8)

Correct.
