jar does not use the CLASSPATH to locate the jar file: you must specify
the path to soap.jar, i.e.

    jar -tvf /usr/soap/lib/soap.jar

CLASSPATH.

/var/tomcat4/bin/tomcat.sh or at /etc/profile ?
