Since various Imsys SNAP products are being discussed I hope the group doesn't
mind if I mention our AVIDdirector-M2M Model 200, which runs the Imsys SNAP
system and has 4 full hardware UARTs, each with full RTS/CTS. The AVIDdirector
replaces the SNAP Xilinx FPGA with a Cypress Microsystems PSoC processor for
I/O. The PSoC is a mixed signal processor with both programmable analog and
digital blocks. The 4 UARTS are implemented using 8 of the COMM blocks. There is
8 MB of RAM and 4 MB of Flash.

The I/O consist of:

	- The console (serial0) is a Mini-USB connector

	- DB-9 with RS-232, which can support 2 serial connections (1 7 wire
connection or 2 4/2 wire)

	- DB-37 with 22 TTL level I/O. Of the 22 I/O, 8 can be analog in, 4
analog in/out, and all are digital in/out. I2C is also supported.

The PSoC's flexible hardware reprogrammability allows the 4 UARTS to be mapped
to a variety of hardware connections. So they be mapped to the TTL I/O, or 2 can
be mapped to the RS-232 connector. There are two 24 pin board-to-board expansion
connectors that also can support serial connections for user boards that need
serial connections. AVIDwireless supplies GPRS, CDMA, ZigBee, ISM band (868, 900
and 2.4G), Bluetooth and other radio modules.

AVIDdirector directly runs standard Imsys SNAP software. There is an optional
debug board that provides connection to the Imsys IDE. We also support our
AVIDdirector-M2M Application Framework, an open-source program that provides
"plug-in" for various radios, sensors and protocols.
