Hi,
I got a FreeBSD 10.1 here with smartmontools-6.4.
The server got 8 Western Digital Red 4TB hard drives, all new,
connected via Marvell 88SE9230 sata controllers.
Now smartctl -H is failing on _some_ of the drives with someting like

but the actual SMART data looks perfect (as expected from new drives).
ive seen the drives in the database, but the firmeware on my drives in
newer (WDC WD40EFRX-68WT0N0/80.00A80 in database, WDC
WD40EFRX-68WT0N0/82.00A82 here).
attached is the output of the steps described in the "My ATA drive is not
in the smartctl/smartd database" section of the FAQ.
