Hardware:
a USB connected Seagate FreeAgent Go 160GB.  Old style (brown case, 2.5")

(smartmontools from subversion as of moments ago)

After adding:
 { 0x0bc2, 0x2000,     -1, d_sat     }, // Seagate FreeAgent Go
to scsiata.cpp everything just works:
