Hi Joel

Using WebDav to upload images is a good idea and slide can help you with
that.
It depends on the kind of users you have, if they are power users they
will like the ability to map a web drive and copy their images to the
site.
Novice users are better of with a web application to upload their
images.

There will be some integration work (creating folders for each user when
he registers) and creating pages for other users to view but you have to
do that anyway.
