Forgot to add -- that in the messages on setup. It then complains that
there is no bootloader setup ...Lilo, Grub, etc...

    No .. The hardware is identical. What if the boot partition is not
the hda0 but hda1...?

Is that it?  There is no error there, so I can't see an issue.

Sounds like your initrd isn't right.  Do you have different hardware on
this client vs. the golden one? (especially scsi disk drives).
