Hello,
Now that SILC Toolkit 1.0 has been released the main development will move
from the silc_1_0_branch into the trunk. The silc_1_0_branch can now be
considered the most stable SILC code, and all 1.0.x releases of all
distributions (SILC Toolkit, SILC Client, SILC Server) will be done from
the silc_1_0_branch. The trunk will start development towards 1.1 or
whatever.
(c0ffee: SILC Client 1.0 should be released from silc_1_0_branch because
trunk will be broken for a quite while)
All critical bugfixes that will be made to the silc_1_0_branch must be
merged back to the trunk. This is developer's responsibility to make sure
that fixes made to branch gets delivered to trunk. However, nothing
should be, by default, merged from trunk to the silc_1_0_branch because
the code will change significantly. Exceptions can be made naturally if
the fix is critical and can be easily merged into the branch. No major
rewrites of modules or any major features should be added anymore to
silc_1_0_branch, instead add them to the trunk.
The silc_1_0_branch as of now is merged with trunk and everything that was
in CVS in the silc_1_0_branch today is also in the trunk. In the coming
days and weeks the code will start changing significantly in the trunk,
and probably won't even compile for a while. Adventurous people may try
the trunk if they want run the bleeding edge.
Once the trunk is in stage that distribution can be created from it, I
will put out a development release of the SILC Toolkit.
Pekka
