We are running Sidewinder 7.01.02 and our HTTP performance is very
sluggish. We tried moving the rule to the top of the list and even
tried a generic proxy.

Generally, the page will not load or load only a small portion during
the initial access attempt. The user can then refresh the page and the
contents will usually appear just fine.

Sniffing seems to indicate that the initial request is being sent and
information is NOT being returned. However like mentioned above, a
refresh causes the communications to function as expected. Once a site
is loaded, other pages on the same system seem to load just fine. We
were monitoring the actual HTTP traffic AFTER DNS resolution, so DNS is
not the issue.

I really don't understand what could be causing the problem. It doesn't
appear to be DNS or the HTTP filtering. The initial HTTP packet gets to
the internal interface and leaves the external interface within 1
hundredths of a second. Once a site has been visited, it works well.
It is just on the initial visit to a site that the packets exit and
often seem to delay in the response or fail all together.

Any ideas on what the problem could be or another test that could be run
to identify the issue?
