We had success with testing Sidewinder 5.2 and FreeSWAN under Linux.   IPSec
under W2K I only tried a little - the lack of documentation pretty well
stopped us there.

The logs for both FreeSWAN and Sidewinder were so good, it wasn't hard at
all to tell what was going on.

Freeswan - without a hitch.

I can't give you any help configuring the Linux side of the
connection since in this particular installation the "opposite"
end is managed by a different company. We support the Sidewinder
side of that customer, only.

And, besides, we don't run Linux at all but FreeBSD ;-)

If you need the details of the Sidewinder config, send a note - I'd
be happy to share them.
