I have managed to get Sidewinder to VPN to a Linux / Freeswan based box
called Instagate which we sell for very low end applications. The
Freeswan site had a good hints and tips document which didn't deal
directly with Sidewinder but did tell me the defaults so I could reverse
engineer it.
I used password authentication, and only allowed Triple DES and Cast 128
on the Crypto screen, also enable PFS for Identity on the advanced
screen with Oakley group 2. I also unchecked DES and Oakley group 1 for
Phase 1 on the Advanced screen.
My Linux box has a Web Based GUI for the Freeswan side, so I can't tell
you much more than that it supports the Shared Secret and PFS is on by
default.
Hope this helps
