Hi from me, too.  I also just joined this list after hearing about
DC Security Geeks in the security course Raven's teaching.

I'm more of a security-geek-in-training.  My job writing spacecraft
instrument software at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics
Laboratory doesn't involve much computer security.  But I'm
interested in the field, and administering even a home LAN requires
constant vigilance.  So I'm learning more by following Raven's
security course and by taking a graduate course on Enterprise
Security and Privacy.

I hope to make it to the March meeting and meet y'all!
