i tried to make CVS HEAD version of sems and it failed at SerClient.cpp:

g++ -c -o SerClient.o SerClient.cpp -Wall -Wno-reorder -D_DEBUG -g -DTHREAD_SAVE \
-D_REENTRANT -D_THREAD_SAFE SerClient.cpp:62: error: invalid conversion from `int \
(*)(const char*)' to `int (*)(const std::string&)'

this g++ error message is meaningless to me especially when it comes
from a line that only has }; on it, but i guess c++ was not meant for
ordinary people anyway.

my g++ compiler comes with debian testing and is

lohi:/usr/src/answer_machine% g++ --version
g++ (GCC) 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-13)

perhaps a c++ guru can shed some light into this problem?
