Hi All,
The best way to check SUS is working properly is via the W3SVC logs
locate by default in \winnt\system32\logfiles\w3svc\ (although you may want
to move them via iis admin mmc) on the SUS server.
This shows the updates taken by the client machines, patch approval etc.

You can also check the event viewer for System events on the client
machines. Any Automatically Installed patches would have events listed
there.

After installing SUS onto a W2K or W2K3 Server, did you also put the
piece into the Group Policy telling the client computers to point to the
SUS Server rather than Windows Update?
An easy way to test everything is bring up a new, unpatched W2K Pro or
XP Pro box, give it about an hour to download all the patches, and give
it a reboot. After that do a start > run > winmsd and see if you have
the Service Pack 4 for Win2K or Service Pack 1 for XP installed.
