Hello...

quick overview on my situation...

- new to seagull
- using on a project
- nice so far
- needs more documentation, will help when i become more knowledgeable.

My current objective is to write a module that groups and presents
lists of uploaded documents as a HTML table with links and
descriptions, organised by category - selected when the document was
first uploaded by admin/member etc.

However, I've hit a bit of a brick wall. This may be a combination of
my ignorance and lack of experience with this framework, however it
really makes little or no sense so far.

I have defined a category called "intranet" (top level no parent) this
has perms for all user types; including guest. I have created a child
category called "documents" which has the same perms as its parent.

I then uploaded a document (a pdf to be exact) and assigned this with
the category type "document". When i then try to view the document
using the following interface...

http://<IP>/~<hostname>/seagull/www/index.php/publisher/document/action/setDownload/frmAssetID/7/

... (in this case I'm logged in as admin/root) i can view and access
the document. If I'm logged in as a normal user (member) i can view
the document. However, if i try to access this file (via the same
interface url) as guest I'm unable to access the document.

I have only briefly looked "under the hood" to understand the seagull
schema to a better degree, however it seems that even after assigning
what i felt were the correct document manager permissions to do
this...

- documentmgr_cmd_list
- documentmgr_cmd_view
- documentormgr
- documentmgr

... this still does not allow me to simply access the file from the above URL.

Is there another interface to do this as guest, or am I missing the
point completely with this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really hoping that I'm
just missing the point or overlooked something.

I've already invested a good deal of time into using this framework as
i really hope i do not have to go back to using phpgacl as this has
tonnes of promise - and i have a deadline :)

much appreciated; Julian :)
