Hello,

was this problem solved? I seem to have the same here on a MaxDB 7.6.0.18 on
Linux (x86_64):

The medium was created with following command:

medium_put BACKfull /space/sapdb/bkp/full PIPE DATA 0 8 NO NO BACK

When I trigger a backup with "backup_start BACKfull" (after a db_connect),
it lasts some seconds and then following error is displayed:

ERR
-24988,ERR_SQL: Sql error
-903,Host file I/O error,Wrong file type
3,Data backup failed
17,Servertask Info: because Error in backup task occured
10,Job 1 (Backup / Restore Medium Task) [executing] WaitingT465 Result=3700
6,Error in backup task occured, Errorcode 3700 "hostfile_error"

A quick look in knldiag:

2006-07-25 16:09:20 47 11597 IO Open '/space/sapdb/bkp/full'
successfull, fd: 44
2006-07-25 16:09:20 47 ERR 11000 d0_aopen filetype found file, required
pipe
2006-07-25 16:09:20 47 11566 stop DEVi stopped
2006-07-25 16:09:20 21 11000 vasynope '/space/sapdb/bkp/full' T40
failed

At the location for the pipe a regular file with 65536 Bytes exists. In
earlier versions SAP DB/MaxDB created the pipe itself. The backint program
(defined in <WORKDIRECTORY>/bsi.env) isn't called too.

Did I made something wrong with the media-definition? I also made some tests
with backup-media without BACK prepended and so on. I also created the pipe
manually via mknod - but nothing helped.

bye
Christian Jung

Hello David,

do you mind sending the file dbm.prt and - if existing - also the file
dbm.ebl to this list?

Best regards,

I'm trying to get a backint backup working. This is MaxDB 7.6.00.12 on
Solaris 9.

I've defined a backup media group:

BACKdata\P01 /vol0/MaxDB/bupht/datapipe1 PIPE DATA 0
8 NO NO 20050812090409 20050812090409
BACK
BACKdata\P02 /vol0/MaxDB/bupht/datapipe2 PIPE DATA 0
8 NO NO 20050812090410 20050812090410
BACK

When I run the backup I get the -903 error.

The directory /vol0/MaxDB/bupht exists but is empty. datapipe1 and
datapipe2 do not exist.

What am I doing wrong?
