I was going to highlight exactly that. I haven't tried it as of right now, but 
the cool feature of Discourse (to me) is that hopefully I can have a mailing 
list interface to communicate with people who prefer a web one.

Also note that the mailing list now runs on Mailman, and that the next major 
version will have a more powerful web interface too, so it might be improved 
with just an upgrade of the software on the server:
