rsync updates the subdirectories of one of two web servers.

The p200 never has a problem, the 486 ends up with this as seen by

The load average goes up into the teens and these processes never 
die.  There are several clients that update this web server, each 
using rsync over ssh. 

The situation is reproducible in that it happens every few days. The 
updates are daily between 12 and 1 in the morning

I suspect that a 'next' client starts an update before the previous 
one is finished, but I am only guessing this. I would assume there is 
some kind of lock mechanism that would prevent problems of this 
nature but perhaps not.

Anyone have any ideas.

Op system on the target machine is i386 Linux 2.0.32
the system that always works is 2.0.33, but I don't really think it's 
operating system related.
