The VMware network card is installed automatically. If your not running 
dhcp, you'll need to configure it manually via the registry.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
At the bottom of services, you'll see a unique GUID that looks something 
like {********-****-...}
Expanding this will give you a properties folder, ipaddress, subnet and 
gateway can be entered here. The nameserver can be found slightly higher 
up the services dir in the TCP folder.

You'll need to reboot before you netcard is active
