Guess you can't, but as explained before, I stay away from iTune: what you can 
do is drag and drop the ripped files - If you ripped/downloaded all of them 
through iTune, I'll have to pass the buck to someone who actually use both 
iPod & Rockbox firmwares.

If you know where your ripped files are (library of iTune being a specific 
folder on your HDD), then no problem with that, just drop the folder to the 
iPod.

As of now, the obvious seems to use iTune to upload music to your iPod in its 
native form, then use the rockbox feature of reading the original iPod 
database to play it with rockbox. A bit of an overkill, though.

I do not know how the original firmware behave regarding to blind users, but 
if iPod provides assistance in this department, you probably better off with 
an untouched iPod.

Unless you are, like me, obsessive-compulsive about open-source... !
(But my eyesight is still okay, as of now).
