Hi,

I experienced a file corruption a while ago, this is how it happend:

I was configuring Xfree with pico editing the /etc/X11/XF86config file on a vt
terminal with pico. On another virtual terminal I tried to start xinit with a
regular user. Unfortunately, xinit hanged and I had to press the reset
button.
On startup I didn't pay attention to what reiserfs printed about the
fs-check(it always handles it perfectly) but when I opened
/etc/X11/XF86config the last line contained "UUUUUUUUUUUUU".

Well, wasn't it just me sleeping on the u-button? First of all, I must have
saved it and then X would have told me the configuration file is broken - not
hang(which was caused by my excellent choices in the X config file..).

System:
A clean install of Slackware 8.0
kernel 2.4.17 with preemption
A plain 25gb IDE disk on ide0 (hda)

This is what fdisk tells me about my partition table:

Command (m for help): p

partition 9 is my root partition.
