Have you customized /etc/ftpaccess at all? Timeouts may be specified in
that file as well. Were you having this problem before you added the soft
(-t) and hard (-T) timeouts in the server args? What messages get logged
into /var/log/messages, /var/log/secure, and /var/log/xferlog when a
connection is timed out?

Subject: Help ! ftpd timeout excessively fast with wu-ftpd (text
version)
Hello
I run RedHat 8.0 with the latest up2date.
As a ftpd server, I use wu-ftp, but each time my ftp client connects to
the server, after max. 60 seconds, I get the following message, making
it impossible to upload or download a large set of files :
221 Time limit reached. Goodbye.
This is the content of /etc/xinetd.d/wu-ftp :
# default: on
# description: The wu-ftpd FTP server serves FTP connections. It uses \
# normal, unencrypted usernames and passwords for authentication.
service ftp
{
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/in.ftpd
server_args = -l -a -t 300 -T 300
log_on_success += DURATION
nice = 10
disable = no
}
When connected on the ftp server, a ps-ax shows : in.ftpd, but process
hangs within a minute.
Any help appreciated.
Fred
