hi,

I have 128MB RAM in my system.

when i am view the size of the RAM in the windows2000
it shows 129,520KB = 126.48MB.

But in linux

when i execute the following command 'dmesg' and view
the zone and nodes and memory details.

Stat1: 124204KB / 129984KB Available ( 1296k kernel
code,4504k reserved,
					90k data,220k init,0k highmem)
Stat2: Node 0 totalpages : 32496 = 129984KB =
126.93MB.
Stat3: zone (0) : 4096 pages
Stat4: Zone (1) : 284000 Pages
Stat5: zone (2) : 0 pages

>From the above:
Totalpages= zone(0) + zone(1)

The available RAM size in the first statement is
equal to size listed in the second statement.

This RAM size is more or less equal in both windows
and linux.

but when i view the /proc/meminfo it shows
MemTotal : 125636kB

Why there is difference in the total memory in the
statment(1) and in the /proc/meminfo

please help me
thanks
bye
