Well, yea sure, but that's still an xserver in a way, and if possible I'd 
rather not install such stuff on the server, but ofcourse, if there ain't 
another way ... :-)

You can use Xvfb.

$ Xvfb :100 -ac&
$ DISPLAY=:100 rdesktop
