Summary: Windows disappear

Initial Comment:
Hi@all,

I'm on a update gentoo system and I have a problem when I use rdesktop. With krdc, I \
have the same problems. I start rdesktop, when rdesktop go on the authentification's \
windows, it disappear. When I try with commands line, it do the same thing.

On the windows server, I look in the logviewer,
I have this message:

Impossible to charge the access path of the Final profile Server . Notice that the \
length of the access path of the profile must be lower than 256 characters

I try to debug rdesktop with gdb because I juste have Segmentation fault.
Here the message of gdb:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xb7d8c677 in XPutImage () from /usr/lib/libX11.so.6

I already compile rdesktop and the library libX11 however it don't work again.

Kev and the others

Try the patch et compile your rdesktop, it work for me.

http://rdesktop.cvs.sourceforge.net/rdesktop/rdesktop/xwin.c?r1=1.222&r2=1.223&view=patch&sortby=date

Open xwin.c with kedit for example, then:

Replace (char *) data, cx, cy, BitmapPad(g_display), cx * g_bpp / 8);
by (char *) data, cx, cy, g_bpp, 0);

Compile and it work :)

Sorry, never mind. I figured it out. I took the relevant lines from the
cvs version of xwin.c and pasted them into the xwin.c in the 1.5.0 tarball
and it compiled and works fine.

I'm not much of a programmer so I didn't know how it worked but I learned
something new today. :)

Yes, it looks like Mark Heily's patch to xwin.c is the fix to this but I
don't know how to apply it. It's not just a matter of copying the xwin.c
file from the cvs to the directory of an open 1.5.0 tarball and compiling
is it?

Would that be the bug fixed by:
http://rdesktop.cvs.sourceforge.net/rdesktop/rdesktop/xwin.c?r1=1.222&r2=1.223&sortby=date
I had the same thing (at work, edubuntu), and I know Fedora has patched
rdesktop 1.5.0 to fix it (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=238032 )

HTH,

Sander

Hi again,

I ran rdesktop through strace. Here's the tail of the output when
rdesktop seg-faulted:

I seem to be running into something similar on a SUSE 10.2 system that was
recently updated. After entering the password and pressing enter on the
remote windows system the window disappears and rdesktop outputs
"Segmentation Fault". I ran it with gdb as well and I get:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x00002ab90466e0bb in XPutImage () from /usr/lib64/libX11.so.6
(gdb)
Continuing.
Cannot find user-level thread for LWP 25232: generic error
(gdb)
Continuing.
Cannot fetch general-purpose registers for thread 46974146258672: generic
error
(gdb)

Any help would be appreciated. :)
Thanks in advance.
