I'm trying to build rdesktop from head in CVS (I want to try the 
smartcard support).

The first thing I do is run autoconf, and I get:
	warning: pkg-config checks are not available

and then of course I can't enable the smart card.... (or can I?)

I'm probably missing something fundamental. Can someone please help?

I've tried it on various flavours of ubuntu and solaris...
