Subject: Re: RRSF Node - Protocol Unknown

Hi Prakash,

To begin, I am in no way an RRSF expert, but did just recently have some of my own \
headaches with it so figured I'd reply. 😊

If I had to guess, it's related to the networking protocol (i.e. TCP). You can try \
running the /#TARGET LISTP to verify the protocol that is currently in use and ensure \
it is active. When we did this during our troubleshooting, we noticed an issue with \
our listener showing as inactive so had to go through some steps to correct that and \
then tried running the restart connection command. /#RESTART CONNECTION \
NODE(<NodeName>) SYSNAME(<LPAR>)

We did get the ??? status at one point too. Here's what I found for that definition \
if you needed it: No connection has been established to the node due to insufficient \
configuration information, or because a TARGET OPERATIVE or TARGET DORMANT command \
has not been issued for the node. The TARGET LIST command output shows this state as \
???.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Sherry

Good Day

We configured RRSF in multiple nodes and all was running well for a while

We recently noticed that there was a communication issue between two nodes (PRT2 and \
DEV)

In PRT2 the DEV Node was saying it is DORMANT

The DEV node in PRT2 become dormant - I tried to issue the target command to make it \
OPERRETIVE - But it came back with an error ( PROTOCOL UNKNOWN)

I tried to delete the Node Config but received a reply - NODE is DORMANT cannot be \
deleted - Also in DEV when I tried to define the PRT2 Node - It allowed me delete it, \
but when I tried to add it back in it had ???? Marks instead of a status

Just need to understand what is PROTOCOL UNOWN Please

Any leads or direction is appreciated

Hope I explained it enough to assist
