If you don't know me: I'm one of the KDevelop 4 hackers whipping up PHP=20 support, Snippets and the GenericManager among other things. I've been contributing for about a year now and this time I finally want to= =20 apply for GSOC. My idea is it to revive the Quanta+ product and ship someth= ing=20 useable for webdevelopers. I want to concentrate on: =2D polish Quanta+ to bring it up to par to KDevelop =2D remove obsolete cruft and unfinished code to playground and instead=20 concentrate on polishing the plugins we have for KDevplatform =2D remove KDE 3 code (the deprecated stuff) =2D introduce some kind of HTML support based on the KDevplatform framework At the beginning I'd probably move most of the Quanta code to playground as= =20 it's outdated and not integrated into the KDevplatform. Then I'd put in the= =20 gems from playground/extragear that are useful for web development: PHP, CS= S,=20 XDebug, ExecuteScript, CrossFire, XML, Upload, ... Additionally there are parts in the KDevplatform that would need work, amon= g=20 others I'd like to hide some actions in Quanta that are useful for compiled= =20 languages (most / all of the build process) and change the default set of=20 toolviews to the needs of a webdeveloper. This way me and Niko think that one could get to the point where Quanta wou= ld=20 be a useful product again. Some parts would actually be better than anythin= g=20 else it ever had, esp. the PHP support. Other areas though will lack or die= in=20 the process, and this is also something I'd like to have your feedback on: What Quanta+3 Feature are you relying on? I personally never used the inline HTML-preview. Imo WYSIWYG is not applica= ble=20 to webdevelopers, it simply messes up to much and is too unreliable. Hence = I'd=20 drop it. Users that quickly want to have a website without the need to know= =20 HTML should not use an editor at all. They should get a Wordpress account o= r=20 similar and be done with it. Also stuff like the custom toolbars are something I'd like to remove. Inste= ad=20 one should use snippets, Kate scripts, ... I actually did create some actio= ns=20 back when I used Quanta3 but never once it was an action important enough t= o=20 be shown in a toolbar. So what do you think? May I proceed and try to create a useful Quanta+ for = KDE=20 4? Have a nice day =2D-=20 Milian Wolff mail@milianw.de http://milianw.de --nextPart3122423.5oCTNNs8yV Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEABECAAYFAkuBDSMACgkQDA6yEs0dE5MnUgCfRUU/+qqiYvmp9DX2/0zasrEw GqUAoIA/w0vk7euJ+/l/XyPbTre9/fLY =snj5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart3122423.5oCTNNs8yV-- --===============0827239248== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ quanta-devel mailing list quanta-devel@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/quanta-devel --===============0827239248==--
