Hi,

 KDE is participating once again in the Google SOC, and as Quanta and=20
Kommander are part of KDE, we can participate as well.=20
If you are a student and want to help our projects, have some good=20
ideas, please follow the instructions from=20

and submit your proposal asap.

Those proposals can be anything related to these applications,=20
preferable regarding their KDE4 versions. Pure porting proposals will=20
generally not be rated too high, but they can be submitted in=20
a "better" form. For example in case of Kommander the porting would be=20
more of a rewrite and would consist about:
=2D creating a widget library that can be shared by the executor and=20
editor (holds the widgets, the UI building code, etc.). Important is to=20
create a LGPL library (no reuse of GPL only code).
=2D create an editor using this library (check if Qt Designer 4 can be=20
extended/reused or there is a need to write one from scratch)
=2D create the executor

The new parser from Kommander could be probably ported in 1:1.

=46or Quanta the proposals could be formulated as:
=2D create KDevelop plugins from existing Quanta3 functionality (pick one=20
functionality that you think can be separated in its own plugin and do=20
it). For example the table editor is a good candidate. Event actions is=20
another one.
=2D extend the new state machine based parser to parse script files as=20
well and analyze the integratation of it with the KDevelop's background=20
parser
=2D create a new VPL mode using the state machine parser and KHTML's DOM=20
tree as a storage of the parsing result
=2D write something completely new if you have an idea.

Unfortunately there are no submitted proposals yet. :-(
