Probably just timing.

Slackware 14 release date is before you blog posting and Slackware has always 
been cautious, no bleeding edge stuff in the numbered releases.

If I'm writing HTML I use the Kate editor but my desktop is currently KDE 
4.9.2 so a few weeks old.
