Hi, Andras,

I appreciate your words. I understand that there come times in life
when one must leave a project behind and get on with life.

However -- and I do not intend by this to challenge your own position --

<rant>

I look at KDevelop and I see nothing under construction that
substantially improves on the many programmers' editors and IDE's
already available. Quanta, on the other hand, was (and still is) far
ahead of any other web development IDE available on Linux, but has
been left to die a slow death.

So I have to wonder whether the KDE developer community have really
looked at where the gaps are in their overall software development
map. As I see it, KDevelop just reinvents the wheel yet again, while
the needs of web developers are simply ignored by KDE developers.

I believe that is illustrative of one of the biggest reasons that the
Linux desktop has achieved so little market penetration. In the
proprietary software world, developers are looking for unoccupied
market niches where they can make a living, i.e., they develop
software needed by users. But in the FOSS world, there's far less
focus on what what users need and a much stronger focus on what
developers feel like doing.

In other words, they scratch their own itches rather than users'
itches. And that is why the Windows and OS X desktops dominate.You can
make a living developing for those desktops, but very few can do so on
the Linux desktop. The platform is missing too many critical apps to
spark a sizable migration from the proprietary platforms.

</rant>

Best regards,

Paul
