I had to make a grave decision and switch from deb
to ubuntu 11.4
I needed also to have a proper firefox (9)
iceweasel would not even let me log into my bank any more
and none of the google tools worked

I cuts it as work station as it is based on debian
its fast and of course I have my Quanta still

My home intranet/samba cups etc is and will remain
debian

Thanks for all the comments
Phil

I used QT for several years until I moved to KDE4 last year. I tried different IDE and my final choice was NetBeans. It works fine under Linux and offers coloration, automatic brackets and completion, debug, line wrap and other functionalities as QT.

No,

Luckily, I found on a laptop, an installation of Ubuntu version10.10
on which Quanta was still working.

:)

So, I am keeping that and ignoring messages urging me to upgrade to
version 11.10. I don't know what I will do after Apr 2012 when 10.10
will no longer be supported. Maybe install Debian Lenny the version
prior to the current Debian Squeeze.

Regards.

I can't help, but thought you'd want to know that Quanta works fine on
my ASUS U52F with Ubuntu 11.10, so you might want to look into your
specific unit/installation.

I've been an ardent supporter of Q+ for many years and it is indeed a sad
day. I do mostly front-end work and knew once HTML5 and CSS3 started to
gain traction, The days of Q+ were numbered.

I've since moved on to Aptana3 like many others here and have grown pretty
comfortable with it. It still has its drawbacks, but for now, it's good.
I've also installed the Zen Coding plugin and have seen my coding speeds
increased substantially.

I'll still hang in there, still lurking on the list, waiting to see if Q+
can make a comeback some day.
