Not in an automatic way. Think about this: you start a new document, 
Quanta has no idea what it is (you can type anything), so uses the 
highlighting for the default project/global DTEP. Unfortunately with the 
editor (katepart) used it was problematic to set the highlighting after 
save, when Quanta could had an idea about the file type based on the 
extension. There is two workaround:
- save and reload
- manually change the higlighting in the Tools menu
