Actually that's almost what I did a couple of weeks ago. I had been running
8.04  with 3.5.9 (I believe) with 4.0 installed alongside. Then I upgraded
to 8.10. It looks like the 3.5.x kde stuff has been wiped out.

you could however, install kubuntu 8.04 with kde 3.5.10, then add kde4.1.x<br>
and upgrade to 8.10.<br>
