Jerry,

I also had a problem making spell check available in Quanta, although it was available in other apps.  I \
was getting the same message as you about the path.  This is how I resolved it. I use Mepis and both \
aspell and ispell were installed by default.  Setting  the Dictionary to English American   in the \
Control Center under KDE Components / Spell Checker was all I had to do.
