All you need to know is the port, the IP and any protocols. Even more simple, the other machine must be behind some form of firewall. Knowing your network system is not too hard and is the key. There are only a few ways to deal with this. Probably it is making a request on a specific port that automatically forwards it. > > When people here want to edit the site, they open FP which prompts for a > destination site: you type in the machine's Fully Qualified Domain Name > and FP automagically opens a Site Browser, first asking me for user and > password for the shared web folder, and then let's me edit the .html. I don't use FP, but as long as the technique is built on standard networking (and MS had to use BSD TCP/IP because they couldn't even write a stack that wouldn't degenerate) then it is just a matter of knowing what is being done. Linux networking is much more flexible and I don't know of anything being done on Windows that cannot be interfaced on Linux. > > This is what I wish Quanta would do.  I can't install anything on that > other machine, no ssh, no ftp.  Just "FP enabled". This isn't a Quanta issue. This is a network configuration issue. When someone using FP and/or your configuration setup tells us what is being done we will be able to give a quicker answer. If nothing else you can run port scanning software to find out what is open. > > I will look into webdav and if that doesn't work, I will live with this > stomach ache until August, when I'll be able to implement my own > deployment of the site. > > Thank you, Community; -- Eric Laffoon - Quanta+ Team Leader http://quanta.kdewebdev.org _______________________________________________ Quanta mailing list Quanta@mail.kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/quanta
