I've been compiling quanta for years, and I have never ever set any
variables before compiling. This is on RedHat, Mandrake and Debian.

I believe that if you're using one of the more common distros, the
library paths are pretty standard and the configure utility to have to
run as part of the compile process is pretty good at searching for the
files it needs.

As long as you have the qt-devel and kde-devl files installed and your
setup hasn't been tinkered with; it is my experience that you do not
have to go exporting any path variables.

In anycase, just give it a go. Make sure the qt and kde devel files are
installed, run ./configure. The worst that can happen is that configure
will pop up an error message.

Hamster.
