If the goal is simply to trunk two or more ethernet interfaces, why not
use the linux bonding driver?  Just google for "Linux Ethernet Bonding Driver
HOWTO".  Or find it in your kernel docs under
Documentation/networking/bonding.txt.

Or are you trying to accomplish something else?

We are doing something similar with wan links (multiple T1 circuits)
using the teql driver.
