Hi,
Let's call the mailhost server "A" and the spamd secondary server "B"
I've done what you said, and I can observ the same kind of error I
saw before when I was just redirecting the tcp connections.
Debugging the communications between the 2 servers with ngrep, I
see *only* traffic from "A" to "B", but no returning traffic from "B"
to "A". It's not a iptables issue since both servers allow any:any to
any:any between them for any protocol.
Things happen like this:
"A" starts processing of the message until clamd:
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:24 CET:25833: +++ starting debugging for
process 25833 (ppid=25830) by uid=89
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:25 CET:25833: w_c: Total time between DATA
command and "." was 6.7e-05 secs
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:25 CET:25833: w_c: elapsed time from start 6.8e-05 secs
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:25 CET:25833: g_e_h:
return-path='direccio@grupsert.com', recips='santi@salvador-alegre.com'
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:25 CET:25833: from='"Miquel Riera"
<direccio@grupsert.com>', subj='LLOGUER DE COSA FUTURA', via SMTP from
x.x.x.x
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:25 CET:25833: clamdscan: finished scan in 0.023703 secs
And now:
Fri, 16 Nov 2007 19:04:25 CET:25833: SA: finished scan in 0.021004
secs - hits=?/?
At the same second. The funny thing is that "B" receives that
message, at 19:04:25, scans it, and shows the result of the scan in
its spamd.log. "A" seems just "throwing" the message to be scanned to
"B" and exit with a "?/?" status for the spamd part. The short short
time shown for the spam scan process (0.023703 secs) suggests that
still there's something missconfigured somewhere.
The original spamc line is:
my $spamc_binary='/usr/local/bin/spamc -t 30';
And the modified one:
my $spamc_binary='/usr/local/bin/spamc -t 30 -d X.X.X.X';
(where X.X.X.X is B's IP)
I'm using the 2.01st version.
Regards,
Ruben.
