Yes, it is.

Thats how qmail works. Forwarding is handled by qmail-local and it needs
such an environment (maildir, user's uid/gid, etc.).

You need to do this only if your forward goes to another mail server,
otherwise you can specify the second email address is
mailAlternateAddress.
