explain how you put smtpd in xinet.d which is more simple than tcpserver
etc,

xinet.d reads files /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny

for qmail-1.03 without patches 
here in 
/etc/hosts.allow
you have to put this line:

tcp-env: 127. ** : setenv RELAYCLIENT

where ** is other IP that you gibe permission to use smtp

so if you you vpopmail like me

you have to patch vpopmail.c (something that I will do in this weekend)
to when, one pop validation is good make one enter in hosts.allow
with the ip of he client of the pop3.

vpopmail have to compiled with the option to do this
