I just tried your gps plugin on OS X with a trunk build and was  
successful. I used a Garmin GPS V on nmea mode and gpsd 2.39. This is  
very nice. I had no idea you had this plugin available. This can be  
very handy for fieldwork. It does appear to lock up qgis if I add data  
layers after enabling and starting gps tracking.
