*Digital Collections Librarian - History and Genealogy Department*
*St. Louis County Library, Missouri*
*1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131*

Known as the "Gateway to the West", St. Louis and the surrounding areas
offer an array of lifestyles. St. Louis features hip, trendy cafes and
neighborhoods, a plethora of outdoor activities with hundreds of parks and
trails, and popular sporting events and cultural attractions. St. Louis
County is a great place to live, work, and play!

St. Louis County Library is a 20 branch system, serving over 860,000
patrons and circulating 14 million items a year. SLCL is in the midst of a
multi-year capital improvement project called Your Library Renewed
<https://www.slcl.org/about-us/your-library-renewed>, that will upgrade
existing structures and open new facilities, as well as enhance library
programs and services. Not only do we have state-of-the-art buildings, but
our impressive programs and partnerships are abundant and diverse. SLCL
staff are creative and forward thinking, developing several award- winning
programs geared to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand
perspectives.

The History and Genealogy Department of the St. Louis County Library
provides access and services to researchers all over the world. The
Department is a major research destination that offers a growing collection
of more than 100,000 print items, large microfilm and periodical
collections, and a variety of electronic databases. The collections are
unique sources for research in the St. Louis area and states east of and
bordering the Mississippi River, with emphasis on migration trails.
Military history and sources for research on various ethnic and national
groups are well represented. Major collections include: St. Louis
Genealogical Society Collection, The National Genealogical Society Book
Loan Collection, The Julius K Hunter and Friends African American Research
Collection, The Lewis Rohrbach collection from Switzerland, the Joy A.
Reisinger Collection from Sparta, WI., the William C.E. and Bessie K.
Becker collection and the Mary F. Berthold collection. Digitization efforts
to expand access to local records and the yearbook collection are currently
underway.

The resources of the Department are heavily used by researchers who rely on
the expertise of the staff. Staff are called upon to present at national
conferences and genealogical/local history organizations. Staff are
responsible for a vast amount of educational programming, creating content
for instructional videos, contributing to the in-house published PastPorts
newsletter <https://www.slcl.org/pastports>, and engaging in outreach and
off-site programming to expand visibility to the local community.

The Department has a Management Team consisting of a Manager and Assistant
Manager, 7 research staff and 2 department catalogers. The Department is
temporarily located at a Branch location while construction takes place on
a new state of the art building which will house the History and Genealogy
Department.

The ideal candidate for the Digital Collections Librarian (DCL) position
