Ours is probably not what you are looking for, as we divide the person's
hours between the young adult and children's departments. That caveat being
stated, here is our job description:

The Young Adult Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of library
programs and services that target children between ages ten and eighteen.
The coordinator is responsible for bringing excitement and innovation to
the Pawling Free Library's programming. The coordinator must have the
ability to design meaningful educational programs for teens and tweens, and
a willingness to foster partnerships with outside organizations in
providing services to the youth of Pawling. The Young Adult Program
Coordinator prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously with
little or no supervision.

In addition to working 30 hours a week on projects pertaining to young
adults, the Young Adult Program Coordinator is also responsible for working
7 hours per week on projects in support of the Children's department. Such
work may pertain directly to programming or may consist of administrative
responsibilities.

This job requires attention to detail, ability to work independently and
with others, and multi-tasking. Most importantly, the coordinator should
possess excellent communication skills and the ability to connect to
children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

 · Creates, plans, and executes young adult programs which are
developmentally appropriate for children between the ages of ten and
eighteen. Core programming areas include (but are not limited to):

o STEAM programming

o Literacy development and engagement: programs that engage children with
books, their content, or skills that lead them to be stronger readers.

o Social and interpersonal development

o Critical thinking and problem solving

 · Creates, plans, and coordinates promotional material for young
adult programs.

 · Seeks alternative funding for young adult programs (e.g. grants
and sponsorship).

 · Exercises sole responsibility for the young adult program and
materials budgets.

 · Creates and maintains a calendar of events and a system of event
registration.

 · Performs outreach to young adults and their families.

 · Performs outreach and collaborates with local schools

 · Fosters partnerships with outside organizations which provide
services to youth.

 · Recruits and coordinates teen volunteers.

 · Provides a monthly report of all departmental activities and
statistics.

 · Advises the library administration on library services.

 · Performs collection development of all young adult materials.

 · Provides reference and readers' advisory when needed.

 · Assists with circulation and other library functions as necessary.

 · Reviews, abides by, and enforces all library policies.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) · Commitment
to creative, educational, and effective young adult programming.

 · Experience with children, preferably in a group and/or
educational setting.
 · Interest in current reading, viewing and listening interests of
young adults. · A large degree of comfort with technology. ·
Ability to provide reference service and/or young adults toward materials
in print and electronic resources. · Ability to work cooperatively
with others. Public library or teaching experience preferred, but not
required. Regular evenings and some weekends are required, as is occasional
circulation desk coverage

Cheers,
Brian Avery
