How to be More Inclusive in Your Readers
<https://infopeople.org/civicrm/event/info?id=933&reset=1> ' Advisory Work
Presented by: Laurel Johnson and Allyson Coan

In this webinar, Laurel Johnson and Allyson Coan will give you strategies
and practical applications to incorporate principles of inclusion into your
advisory services. We'll talk about inclusion and why it's important in
readers' advisory, diversity audits and how to use them for advisory work,
strategies for bringing authors from marginalized communities into focus,
and how to call-in your coworkers. This webinar will give participants a
better understanding of how to actively prioritize inclusion in advisory
work, instead of falling back on established practices of leaving behind
underrepresented authors and narratives.

Note: While we'll touch on collection development, the focus of the webinar
is readers' advisory.

At the end of this one-hour webinar, participants will:

*	Define, understand, and implement the concepts of inclusive readers
advisory
*	Have a deeper understanding of the #OwnVoices movement
*	Reflect upon and identify gaps in their own reading and suggesting
habits
*	Bolster awareness of underrepresented authors amongst their
coworkers and patrons

This webinar will be of interest to: Anyone who suggests or markets titles
to patrons and customers.

NEW Thursday, November 5, 2020 @noon Pacific

 <https://infopeople.org/civicrm/event/info?id=937&reset=1> Outreach Outside
the Box

Presented by: Liz Mc Chesney, Marisa Conner, Sue Abrahamson and Amy Twito

If 2020 has shown us anything it's that, now more than ever, library staff
need to find creative and flexible ways to bring resources and programming
to families where they are in their communities. Additionally, we must
continue finding new ways to serve families who have been left out of
traditional library programming in order to build equity, develop inclusive
practice, and encourage diverse voices.

In this session, a panel of youth services presenters will share their
approach to serving families in poverty, immigrant communities, and rural
communities as examples of how library services and programs can be designed
with the changing needs of today's children and families in mind.

At the end of this one-hour webinar, participants will:

*	Reviewed 7 keys of effective partnership
*	Gained insight into 5 innovative ways libraries are serving
communities
*	Learn about co-design and its potential impact on involving
community in program design
*	Develop an outreach mission statement for your community
*	Gain an understanding of the importance of Letters of Agreement and
Memorandum of Understanding

This webinar will be of interest to: Youth services librarians and outreach
staff at all levels.
