Seguimos Creando Enlaces 2019 - Call for Proposals
The 2019 Seguimos Creando Enlaces Conference committee is calling for
proposals. The title of the conference is “Seguimos Creando Enlaces:
Librarians as Educators – Impacting the Underserved.” March 14, 2018 will
take place at San Diego Central Library in San Diego, CA with the morning
sessions live streamed to a satellite site at Fresno Public Library and
March 15, 2018 will take place in Tijuana, Mexico. The conference will
explore the many ways public and academic libraries educate their
communities, particularly in reaching out to underserved groups who might
not have equal information access or a safe forum to voice their needs.
As always, we welcome an emphasis on partnerships with other libraries,
sister cities, cultural institutions, and/or community-based organizations.
If your library or academic institution has a particular collection,
program, or unique approach on:
1) Supporting the educational goals of binational, immigrant or refugee
communities
or
2) Connecting multi-language library users to current services in your
community
or
3) Creative and impactful approaches to reach underserved communities.
Here are some keywords to inspire you: LGBTQIA+, social justice, inclusion,
mental and emotional health outreach, immigrant, refugee, indigenous,
multi-generational, undocumented, first-generation graduate, information
literacy, engagement, intersectionality, pedagogy, critical libraries
(#critlib), marginalized communities, language barriers, accessibility,
relationships, knowledge, skills, sanctuary, unheard stories, shared
humanity.

stipend may be available for those presenters who live outside of San Diego
County.
Seguimos Creando Enlaces 2019 - Convocatoria de Propuestas
El Comité de la Conferencia de Seguimos Creando Enlaces 2019 está convocando
propuestas. El tema de la conferencia es "Seguimos Creando Enlaces Presenta:
Bibliotecarios como educadores: impactando a los marginados". La conferencia
se realizará el 14 de marzo en la Biblioteca Pública Central de San Diego en
California con las sesiones de la mañana transmitidas en vivo a un sitio
satélite en la Biblioteca Pública de Fresno y el 15 de marzo tendrá lugar en
Tijuana, México. La conferencia explorará las diversas maneras en que las
bibliotecas públicas y académicas educan a sus comunidades, particularmente
al acercarse a grupos desatendidos que podrían no tener acceso igual a la
información o un foro seguro para expresar sus necesidades.
Como siempre, ponemos énfasis en las alianzas con otras bibliotecas,
ciudades hermanas, instituciones culturales y/o organizaciones comunitarias.
Si su biblioteca tiene una colección, programa o enfoque especial sobre:
1) Apoyar los objetivos educativos de las comunidades binacionales,
inmigrantes o refugiadas
o
2) Conectando a los usuarios multilingües de la biblioteca a los servicios
actuales en su comunidad
o
3) Enfoques creativos e impactantes para llegar a las comunidades
marginadas.
