The deadline to apply for the position of Director of Branch Library Servic=
es at the Los Angeles Public Library has been extended to Thursday March 9,=

The Los Angeles Public Library is looking for an innovative, experienced ma=
nager to provide oversight and direction for the overall operations of  its=
 72 branches.

The minimum qualifications are a master's degree in Library Science or Libr=
ary and Information Science from a school accredited by the American Librar=
y Association and two years of full-time paid professional librarian experi=
ence, at the level of Principal Librarian with the City of Los Angeles, wor=
king in areas such as:

  *   Coordinating and developing library services, establishing library op=
erating policies and procedures, and effectively utilizing library personne=
l to ensure full public services throughout a library system or region;
  *   Administering the maintenance and development of a library materials =
collection throughout a library system, region, or in a central library sub=
ject department;
  *   Administering cooperative programs with schools, community groups, an=
d businesses to define appropriate library services throughout a library sy=
stem or region.

The current salary range is $120,644 to $171,654 per year. A highly competi=
tive benefits package includes an independent retirement plan to which both=

exible benefits plan including multi-option health coverage, dental and vis=
